These rare fashion studies were produced by the André Studio for American designers by Pearl Levy Alexander in 1939 and 1940.

The André Studio was a sketch subscription service for the garment industry, copying and adapting designs from Paris and elsewhere over a 50-year period.

The designs were produced on rough brown paper and highlighted with white gouache and other elements of colour.

Most of the collections are kept by American museums, and very few are found for sale.
